YARPP, The Easy Way to Show Related Post

Related post is the other posts that have relation with the post you currently reading, as well as in tag, category or the words you use in the post (keywords). Generally, people shows their related post below the post currently reading, but of course they don’t place the other posts completely, they just place the links to them.
Showing your related post is very useful to attract your visitor to see the other posts, most targeted to the old posts. it will reduce your bounce rate. Bounce rate is the value of visitor that just visit one page of your blog, lower bounce rate increase your blog quality.
The other benefit of showing related post is to increase your inbound link. Inbound link is the link that direct to page or post in the same blog.
Sometimes, people modify their post template to show their related post, but for people that is not familiar with code it maybe become the obstacle.
Wordpress is powerful open source for blogging that supported with many plugins. There are many wordpress plugins to show related post below your post, such as related post, wordpress related post plugin, aizattos related post, yet another related post plugin (YARPP). At this time I will explain about Yet Another Related Post plugin, I think this is better than others about showing related post, some plugin sometimes shows related post under the post but in fact they has no relation with the post.
To start making related post with YARPP, follow these steps:
- Download YARPP plugin here
- Upload YARPP to your plugin directory.
- Activate YARPP via your admin page.
- Configure the setting of YARPP like the picture below.
- At Display options for your website section, set the value of Maximum Number of Related Post
- Related post by default appear with number, you can change this with bullet or any other style. For instance, if you want to change to bullet instead of number, change the Before / after related entries: with the code below, change also the text of Related post with Similar post
- You can arrange related post result in Order Results, by relevance, date, alphabetical
- In case no related post found, you can type your message to change the text of No related posts in Default display if no results section, eg., I’m Sorry No similar post found. Showing your related post in sidebar also available, just go to widget page.
Define the value of Match Threshold in , this parameter to measure relevance level between post. higher value will increase the relevancy and makes related post more selective, and you get less related post overall. If you have just a few post set this value to 2 or 3.
Check Consider option to increase appearance of related post.

Yes, that very useful, but otherwise also eat your machine resource if you hosted your blog on common shared host and thats a crowded blog

I’ve been using this plugin for a while now. Its one of the best wordpress plugins because it just works. Looks like you have it enabled, but it didn’t pull any related post for this article. Good job with your install and configuration instructions.

@benwaynet : Ok, I reduce the value of Match Threshold then rebuild the cache…, you can see now related post for this article.

@MMA Pound : I was suggested by my friend to use this plugin, he also was suggested by hosting provider about this plugin. YARPP has cache system to make server load a little bit better.

Yes, i using that plugins too on my web.id blog and it hosted on shared host before i have autosuspend.
At first time everything is ok, my visitor also fell helpful with that plugins. But after reach about 900 – 1000 visit / day my blog often have auto suspend even i already have wp-supercache installed.
When i ask to my hoster, they said some plugins like Yarpp and recent comments takes so much resource. Then i decided moving to another hoster, but only take 2 weeks before have auto suspend again..
Now i have moving to an VPS machine, but i still confused to activated again. Also there are possibility my previous hoster was wrong with their analyze for these plugins, i havent re-checked again.
