USB to PS/2 Mouse Connector Wiring

by hasan on Aug.14, 2009, under Computer, General

USB to PS/2 Mouse Connector WiringYesterday when I got off work, I found my mouse has lost from my computer, then I tried to find it, finally I found in toy box of my son. I was very surprised finding mouse adapter has broken. I used mouse with usb connector because my USB port has already full, so I used USB-PS/2 adapter to connect to PS/2 port.

I don’t have much time to find out USB-PS/2 adapter in the market, finally I asked my friend about this, he gave me wiring configuration for USB to PS/2 connector.

The wiring is very simple as the following:

usb connectorUSB Connector at the Mouse
Pin No 1 = VDC +5V
Pin No 2 = Data -
Pin No 3 = Data +
Pin No 4 = Ground

ps2 connectorPS/2 Connector at the Mouse
Pin No 1 = Data
Pin No 2 = No Connect(NC)
Pin No 3 = Ground
Pin No 4 = VDC +5V
Pin No 5 = Clock
Pin No 6 = No Connect(NC)

Connect pin no.1 of USB to pin no.4 of PS/2.
Connect pin no.2 of USB to pin no.1 of PS/2.
Connect pin no.3 of USB to pin no.5 of PS/2.
Connect pin no.4 of USB to pin no.3 of PS/2.
PS: This wiring works only with mouse which supports with both interfaces (USB & PS/2).
Here are the result:

Very nice post… I have another improvement…!! My internet using USB Wireless Adapter for cathing a hotspot. In order to obtain a high quality signal, I made a long USB wire… and place the USB Adapter in the roof of my house.

I also use wireless like yours to catch hotspot signal, Rp 60.000 per month, I plan to make pan anthena to get stronger signal but still looking for UTP cable, maybe next week.

I’m not sure, you can try by yourself, the important things is about connecting +VDC and Ground to its pair.., so you will not get high risk, just not work instead of getting burn the device..,
